iTroll Vs. TrollMaster: Which Throttle Control Wins The Deal?

Among the vast collections of electric throttle control, iTroll and TrollMaster are the two popular names for being versatile and long-lasting. But you can’t pick up any of them interchangeably as they have differences in design, usability, installation, compatibility, price, and many more places.

Note that every throttle control system has its own unique characteristics. So you can’t get your hands on the right one without proper judgment. So let’s decide upon your preferences after diving into the battle!

Key Differences Between iTroll and TrollMaster Throttle Control System

  • Design and Display
iTroll Throttle Controller

That’s what I’ve found the very first difference between the Trollmaster and iTroll.

And I can rest assured that anyone can differentiate them by looking at their outer appearance, especially while comparing the iTroll and TrollMaster Pro 3 +.

Basically, the iTroll consists of a relatively large display than the TrollMaster.

Moreover, it features four individual buttons: on/off, idle run, hunt, left, right, and max.

In addition, the manufacturer has added a regulator to help you regulate it according to your preferences.

When it comes to the TrollMaster Pro 3 +, you’re going to get 6 different buttons. Each serves individual functionalities to let you get the most out of your throttle control.

Speaking of the other variant of Trollmaster named “Trollmaster Pro,” this one incorporates three switches (e.g., idle, max, and off/on) along with a regulator. And I personally found its display tinier than the iTroll.

  • Usability (Wired/Wireless)

Throttle control is wired doesn’t mean it’s going to be less efficient. Similarly, throttle control is wireless doesn’t mean it’d be fragile! Each has its own unique characteristics, functionalities, pros, and cons.

Let’s talk about TrollMaster first. As you know, it offers two variants, both wired and wireless. But the wireless/battery-powered version (TrollMaster Pro 3 +) it comes with earned more fame for being more functional and cost-effective.

In fact, many customers claimed it to be the best bang for your buck compared to the Trollmaster Pro (wired version).

Like most electrical throttle, the iTroll gets a signal through wiring. Thus, it gives you efficacy, power, and excellent stability.

That said, it’s equally true that the TrollMaster Pro 3 + will be relatively easier to operate for being wireless. It gives you the freedom to control it from anywhere you prefer. If I share my personal view, it was pretty much convenient for me as I didn’t have to stick with wirings!

  • Installation

Here is where I’d like to give higher marks to the TrollMaster!

Even though over 90% of electric throttle control system in the marketplace is easy to install, still, there is a fact to consider between wired and wireless.

Because a wired one, like the iTroll Gen 2, requires finding links of battery compartments, power modules, and such components for assembly.

There are a lot of things involved in the installation, which you’ll need to follow thoroughly to get the work done.

In contrast, TrollMaster Pro 3 Plus gets a unique mechanism for operating the electric throttle control. Thanks to the wireless facility. All you need is to turn the power “on” and start adjusting the throttle by activating “Run Mode.” Easy as falling off a log!

  • Compatibility with Motor (Single/Double)

One of the best parts I’ve personally found on the iTroll is that it gets compatibility with dual motors. This means anyone can simultaneously control the primary motor and the Kicker, taking their throttling skill to a new level!

On the other hand, none of the TrollMaster throttle control systems has this ability, although it gives you a unique service to operate a single motor.

  • Compatibility with Brands

There is no chance to choose any of them between the iTroll and TrollMaster interchangeably. Ask why? Because they aren’t made for the same brand. For instance, iTroll gets compatible with Nissan, Tohatsu, and Suzuki, while the TrollMaster is friendly with the Mariner.

But fortunately, they sometimes match the same brand, where you can interchangeably use Trollmaster and iTroll. These include Honda, Evinrude, Johnson, Mercury, and Yamaha.

  • Warranty

In general, the warranty period of an electrical throttle control system differs from seller to seller. That said, the official website of both iTroll and TrollMaster has been serving a specific period of warranty to keep you out of stress.

Let’s say the iTroll Throttle Control System delivers up to 2 years of service warranty, while the TrollMaster Throttle Control offers a 1-year warranty.

But can you guess where they have got similarities? Well, none of them will serve you a warranty facility if you provide them with a damaged or poorly installed throttle control.

Besides that, never take off the serial number given by the manufacturer. The warranty facility will be canceled if they find them either altered or removed!

  • Price

Price comes the last, and sometimes, the first aspect to look for, especially for those who are tight on cash! Even though there is a slight difference between them in terms of the cost, still, it’s not a secret that I’ve got the TrollMaster more budget-friendly than the iTroll.

Which Throttle Control Is Better For You?

After digging into their differences, are you still in the dilemma of choosing a single one between iTroll and TrollMaster? To help you out, I’ll share my views on which one stands out for what aspects.

If you prioritize a bigger-sized display, more warranty duration, and compatibility with more brands, rely on the iTroll without thinking twice.

Including these, one of the significant parts of it is that iTroll lets you control dual motors (e.g., the primary and Kicker) at a go, ensuring optimal functionality and performance. But its installation process will be a tad bit challenging for you, especially if you’re new in the world of electric throttle control systems.

In such a case, if you prefer an easy-to-use and wireless throttle control, go with the TrollMaster Pro 3 Plus. Its compactness lets you keep it anywhere you like, including in your pocket as well. And yes, it’s relatively cheaper than the iTroll.

In fact, you’ll find the TrollMaster’s wired version (TrollMaster Pro) way more affordable than Pro 3 plus! Watch a video comparison between the two.

Conclusion

The comparison of iTroll vs. TrollMaster ends here. I guess now you can decide which throttle control fits your and your brand’s requirements most.

After all, everyone has their unique necessity. So there is nothing wrong if you prioritize one over the other because each stands out in its own way.

But my personal suggestion would be to rely on the iTroll for its extended warranty and dual-motor facility. However, if you prefer ease and budget-friendliness, TrollMaster would be ideal!
